RLBFT offers evening and weekend classes for children and adults. While most classes fill quickly, RLBFT will wait-list a student until space in a class becomes available, or until the next semester.

CLASSES FOR CHILDREN

CHILDREN BEGINNER 

This introductory class is for students new to Folklórico. Girls and boys are taught the basics of body awareness, alignment, and posture. Students are taught the fundamentals of classic ballet stretches and the waltz, along with basic Folklórico footwork that serve as a foundation for advancement into other classes. Students are expected to know the difference between right and left.

Days: Wednesdays and Saturdays
Times: 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesdays, 9:00 – 10:00 AM on Saturdays.

CHILDREN ADVANCED 

This class is for advanced students who have gone through the beginner or intermediate classes. Students are expected to have strong control of their body and feet, and should be able to participate in challenging choreographies. Students are also expected to periodically attend extra rehearsals in preparation for performances.

CLASSES FOR TEENS

JUNIOR BEGINNER 

This class is for students who have had minimal training in Folklorico and are prepared for a faster paced environment. Students are expected to know the difference between right, left, up, down, turns, and are beginning to have strong control of their body and feet. 

Days: Wednesdays and Saturdays
Times: 7:00 – 8:00 PM on Wednesdays, 10:15 – 11:15 AM on Saturdays.

JUNIOR ADVANCED

Students in this class learn difficult footwork combinations, complex choreographies, and advanced performance character and stage presence. Students are expected to know the history and differences between Mexico’s many dance customs. Students are also expected to occasionally attend extra rehearsals in preparation for performances. This class serves as the final step in a student’s dance education before they are invited to join the ranks of the Adult Company. Students are expected to have superior dance and performance ability, and are expected to periodically attend extra rehearsals in preparation for performances.

Day: Saturdays

CLASSES FOR ADULTS

BEGINNER ADULT

The adult beginner class is for inexperienced adult dancers who simply wish to exercise or to learn about Mexican dance customs. This class is structured for adults who have little or no dance experience, with instruction focusing on the basics of body awareness and coordination, and basic footwork and skirtwork technique.

Day: Mondays
Time: 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

INTERMEDIATE ADULT

The adult intermediate class is for experienced adult dancers who are ready for a faster paced learning environment. This class is structured for adults who are able to execute body awareness and coordination techniques while demonstrating above basic footwork and skirtwork.

TUITION 

All classes are $70.00 per month. Students can pay per class, monthly, or for the entire semester. If you would like information on scholarships, please speak with your instructor at the time of the class. 

PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING COMPANY

Experienced dancers interested in performing or learning highly advanced dances are encouraged to attend the Performing Company practices.

Requirements: 

  • Previous Folklorico experience 
  • All black attire
  • Tennis shoes
  • Folklorico shoes
  • Black Folklorico practice skirt (doble vuelo)
